Can you help me find 2 companies who have differing views on the concept of “ social responsibility.”

So good to hear from you!

This is a tough question. After all, what company wants to be known as not caring about its responsibilities to its community?

Sometimes it's helpful to start with a survey. CR Magazine, the publication of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association, engages a third party research firm to compile an annual list of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens. Companies are ranked on environment, climate change, human rights, employee relations, corporate governance, philanthropy, and finance. You could choose a company that ranks highly in one category and a second company that ranks very low in that category, but high in another. This would provide a contrast in approaches to CSR.

You might also explore 2 companies with opposing reputations. For example, The Walt Disney Company is known for embracing a liberal perspective, while Koch Industries is known as a conservative company. The differing perspectives result in different approaches to CSR.

This list of links to CSR web pages and reports from Bentley University might be useful in tracking down primary source information.
