Thank you for your question. The history of distance education reaches back pretty far into our history, way back into our analog days. If you want to write about the reasons behind and the rise of distance education then I would recommend using the search terms: history AND "correspondence education" (use the AND and he quotation marks) for journals. For books I recommend using distance education AND history.
