Hello,

You can use a quote in APA style writing but it is heavily frowned upon.  Paraphrasing and summarizing are the preferred methods for using others' material as evidence in your own work.  You may want to check with your professor before using a quote as many of your professors do not allow the use of quotes in APA style papers. 

Also, remember if you do quote that you must enclose the quote in quotation marks, the quote must be exactly the same as the original, and you must include an in-text citation including the author's last name, the date of publication, and the page number where you found the information.
