I have to rewrite my intro section for my research paper and I need to find a definition maybe in DSM for anxiety. I also need to see how they define psychological symptoms involving anxiety in humans and animals (how it manifests itself). Can you help me for my research paper? Where would I find a basic statistic measure reference of how stress affects say 18 million people a year. What publication would I find a direct stat quote like that?? -Veronicahm@comcast.net.

Veronica,

Could you send us your Brenau email address please?  We can send you a pdf of information about anxiety from the DSM but only to an official Brenau email address.

Also, you can find good information/statistics on stress and anxiety on the National Institutes of Health website.  I googled NIH stress statistics and I found this:

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/stress.html and this:

http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/stress/index.shtml

The Centers for Disease control is also a very good place to find statistics on different health related issues.  I googled CDC stress statistics and found this:

http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/docs/99-101/

In addition the American Psychological Association has an interesting report on stress here:
