Hello, I have a an essay on communication across generations (traditionalists, baby boomers, generation x, & millennials) in the workforce. I have to outline the various generations present in the American workforce by describing them in detail, describing the communication patterns that these generations tend to engage in from an organizational perspective, and describe the challenges that a manager might have in dealing with these generations in the workplace. Where do I begin to look for citation from literature that include motivations, communication patterns, values, and even managerial challenges for each of these generations? Thanks

Hello!

Begin by going into the business libguide at libguides.brenau.edu/business. Choose the articles tab.  Choose ABI/Inform Complete by Proquest.  Limit your search to full text by clicking on the full text box.  Next enter your search terms.  I used Cross Generational AND Communication AND Organizations to start.  Next you may choose to do research on each generation by using search terms such as Generation X AND Communication.  I found some good articles using this search string in Academic Search Complete.

For background information on each generation, I chose the Books tab in the business libguide.  In the library catalog widget, use search terms such as Generation X.  You will find good background and definitions here.  The first result is an e-book.  Click on the title of the e-book and then View this e-book.
