When using APA format, are the references numbered?

The reference list in APA is not numbered, however entries are listed in alphabetical order by the lead author's name. If you have multiple items by the same author(s), they are listed in chronological order, earliest date first. If you have multiple  items by the same author(s) published in the same year (phew!), alphabetize by item title (excluding A or The).
