Hello!
Sorry it has taken us so long to get back to you about this question but we've been doing extensive research to see if we could find materials for you. The short answer is that you are absolutely correct that this is a very difficult topic because no one seems to be writing or publishing anything about it anywhere! Believe us, we've looked and looked and looked.
Are you set on this topic or are you able to pivot and change the topic a bit? If you are, we were able to find some resources about the usefulness of augmentative and alternative communication in individuals with progressive neuromuscular disorders and with speech disorders. We used the search terms augmentative communication AND neuromuscular disorders and got some good results in Cinahl Plus with full text. Other search terms that we used include:
"activities of daily living" and "communication aids"
"activities of daily living" and "user computer interface".
Be sure to include the quotation marks with those phrase searches so that the database knows to search for the all of the terms together and in the order that you typed them.
We know that this is not exactly the information that you wanted but we hope that we have been helpful to you. Please let us know if there is any way that we can be of further assistance.
