Hello!

The APA Publication Manual APA addresses scholarly reporting publications, such as journal articles and literature reviews, specifically. It doesn't talk about essays, memoranda, or other kinds of writing. The APA style, however, can be applied to almost any kind of publication or paper students may write, including memoranda. When asked to write any kind of document in the APA style, page numbers are required when citing direct quotes in the text and encouraged when citing a paraphrase in the text. Page numbers are required for entries for book chapters, articles, etc. in the references at the end of the paper.

Thanks for asking.
