Question

Is it necessary to cite exact quotes from a focus group transcript with a page number and/or date? If so, how is this done?

Here is an example from our thesis:
"You pretty much know what he's going to do next," according to DPDP7.
Do I need to add a page number from the transcript for this quote?

You do not need a page number from the transcript, but when quoting someone in the focus group, you must use his or her exact words.  You should also describe the type of person who said the quote in parentheses.  Example: "The HIV testing was good to take.  I got helpful information on how to protect myself."  (Cape Town man, 25 years old).
