Brenau University Archives collects, processes, catalogs and preserves materials related to the history of the university and its environs. The Archives houses materials dating from 1878 when Brenau originated as Georgia Baptist Female Seminary. The collection includes photographs, faculty meeting minutes, scrapbooks, yearbooks, memorabilia, student publications, photographs and other materials related to the day-to-day life of Brenau over the years. Archives also retains information and artifacts of some unusual chapters in the history of the institution, including information about the infamous Dare Stones and the stones themselves, initially purported to be a great historical significance related to the founding of our country but later discredited as an elaborate hoax.
