Selecting the "Articles" tab on the left side of the screen. I would choose Education Journals as a good place to begin your search.

From the main Education Journals search page you can select full-text and peer-review before you even begin your search. I was able to locate 5 articles using these search terms: mathematical language AND numeracy.

If you opt to use other databases you can limit the search results by peer-review, date, and full text by using limiter tools located on the left side of the search results page.
