Question

Can the accession number replace the doi number for citing APA style references?

Details

One of my sources missing a doi number is a periodical, the other is a journal article.

Hello,

No, the assession number should not be substituted for the doi.  Instead you should type the words Retrieved from and the give the URL for the homepage of the journal that the article is printed in.  Here is an example:

Barrett-Connor, E. (2003). Diabetes and heart disease. Diabetes Care, 26(10), 2947-58. Retrieved       from http://care.diabetesjournals.org/

And you get the URL for the homepage of the journal by googling the name of the journal. It is usually the first result.
