Question

Japan's business structure

Details

I am working on a project for BA 642. I am having difficulties finding information for Japan's business structure. Also I am not sure how to search for stereotypes for United States on Japan and also Japan and the United States. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello!

You'll want to begin with Crossing Cultures, the LibGuide designed espially for BA 642. The guide has several sources related specifically to business, economics, and politics. In particular, check out Doing Business In. This publication includes basic information on business structures. ABI/Inform Complete also has relevant information. Searching "Japanese business" structures yields only a few results, but they may be useful. Among these articles I saw a mention of the Basic Survey of Japanese Business Structure and Activities. I went to Google, where I was able to locate this detailed report on METI, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry web site.

Regarding the stereotypes, I was able to find one report in a book collection that addresses stereotypes, the Japan Culture and Society Complete Report. It covers stereotypes of Japanese people. For the flip side, I Googled Japanese stereotypes of Americans and found a recent Pew Research Report, How Americans and Japanese See Each Other. Pew is highly respected and very reliable.

Thanks for asking a librarian!
