Question

I would like to find information on the Smith-Fess and Smith-Sears Acts.

Details

I am writing a short research paper and need to find a book and journal to support the information. Both acts were signed in the 1920's. I'd appreciate any kind of suggestions to find more information. I've used EBSCO.

Hello,

First, to find information on these acts in books go into the all purpose libguide at libguides.brenau.edu/allpurpose.  Choose the books tab.  Scroll down and click on the Ebooks on Ebscohost link under Online Books.  You will be asked to login using your Brenau username and password.  The first search terms I used were Vocational Rehabilitation.  I found information on both of these acts in the 5th book listed, Handbook of Vocational Psychology: Theory, Research, and Practice on page 322.  Click of the title of the book and then PDF fulltext to get into the book.  You can get to page 322 easily by typing the number into the box below the text of the book and hitting Go.  You can email this page to yourself by using the email function to the far right side of the page.

Next, I tried using the search terms Legislation AND Vocational Rehabilitation.  I found information about both of these acts in the 11th book listed in the results on page 44.

To find information on these acts in journal articles I went into the all purpose libguide at libguides.brenau.edu/allpurpose.  Choose the articles tab.  Choose Academic Search Complete.  I used the search terms History AND Legislation AND Vocational Rehabilitation.  The fourth result down has a good discussion of the Smith-Fess Act.  Also, the 12th result has a good discussion of the Smith-Sears Act which is often call the Veteran's Rehabilitation Act or the Soldier's Rehabilitation Act in the literature.

We hope this helps and thanks for asking a librarian!
