A good place to start researching a general topic such as physical science is the "Science Education" section of the Biology Libguide, because the databases found there cover the topic of science in general (not just biology).

The databases selected for this libguide have been vetted by professional librarians and should contain a lot of relevant information.  Academic Search Complete and ScienceDirect should provide plenty of resources.  I would suggest that you use the Advanced Search option, however.  For example, with an initial search start with "matter AND physics," and in a separate text box add NOT (from the drop menu) "book review."  Otherwise you may have to sort through a lot of reviews of academic books.

If you find an item that appears to suit your topic, even if it is in a format you're not interested in or if it is out of date, I recommend looking at the detailed record.  The description of the item can often provide additional search terms that can help refine your research.  Particularly pay attention to subject headings.

If you need additional assistance, please don't hesitate to let us know.
