What an interesting topic! You'll find the best material for it in our Business LibGuide at http://libguides.brenau.edu/business.

Since this kind of specific information is not likely to be in a book, you'll want to locate scholarly articles that describe the management environment and practices at the company. Click the yellow Business - Articles tab at the top of the page, and you'll find a variety of databases for this kind of information. Here's a few tips for your searches!

  • Since Bank of America is the proper name of the company, put quotation marks around the phrase so your searches will keep those two words together. It would look like this when you type it into the search box: "Bank of America"
  • To find information about the company and the idea of management in the same search, use a Boolean (BOOL-ee-un) search technique by placing AND between the two terms. It would look like this when you type it into the search box: "Bank of America" AND management.
  • Make sure to click any check boxes for Full Text - this makes sure it will return only items that you can read right away! Additionally, limiting your dates for this assignment is a good idea.  Once you have entered your search terms and received your results, scroll down the screen and on the right side, you will see a bar that you can drag to the right in order to narrow your dates.  I used years the 2006 through 2013 for my search.

When I ran the search for "Bank of America" AND management in ABI/INFORM Complete (the second database listed on the Business - Articles page), I found some interesting articles but when I ran this search (you can copy and paste these exact search terms into the search bar in the database all(management) and all(management styles) and all("bank of america") I got more results, such as:

BARNES, D. (2006). Technology: Tech vision - vlad torgovnik - in the tough environment of capital markets, people skills are often forgotten. bank of america's capital markets CIO talks to dan barnes about the virtues of trust and how his management approach has seen him vo. The Banker, , 1-1. Retrieved from https://search.proquest.com/docview/225663736?accountid=9708

Zibel, A. (2011, Sep 14). BofA ordered to pay fired whistleblower. Wall Street Journal (Online). Retrieved from https://search.proquest.com/docview/889945875?accountid=9708

In this same database, try using the search terms Bofa and management as well as the search terms listed above.

I found a few articles in Business Source Complete (fourth database on the list) using the term Bofa and management instead of "Bank of America" AND management. Here are two:

Menchaca, P. (2007). Change Underway at Bank of America. Investment Dealers' Digest, 73(41), 12-16.

NORTH AMERICA. (2010). Euromoney, 41(495), 93-94.

Each database is a unique collection of articles. Try different ones to find the best resources for your topic and try using the different search terms in each of them!
